Should I do a colon cleanse or colon probiotics? which work

Should I do a colon cleanse or colon probiotics? which work

Postby tci.tourismpls » July 21st, 2011, 7:57 pm

I have IBS and my bowels are completely off, i'm always constipated and gassy. I eat enough fiber and drink tons of water. . i just need to get this out of the way. I hate being bloated and gassy all the time and i hate the frustration of not being able to go to the bathroom when i clearly need to.

So my question, which work better? Colon cleanses or colon probiotics? How long until they're effective? Thanks

You'll probably get off more on colon probiotics. Most people into that fetish seem to prefer it although most people just go for the cleanse

I don't know much about colon probiotics, but most Colon cleanses are scams. You don't have to buy there formulas, you could just use phylum husk which is found in most supermarkets and health stores.

I hope this helps.

Neither. For you your diet is not right, make small adjustments to your diet. Try deleting wheat, sugar, or one of the big offenders. See what happens. Make sure your minerals are right, sometimes adding a vitamin and mineral supplement is all that is needed. There is no quick fix, you need to find your balance and maintain it.

Even if you think you are getting enough fiber in your diet, we consume far less fiber than is ideal and as a consequence we suffer with bowel issues that are nearly unheard of in cultures where refined products are not consumed.

I highly recommend Psyllium Husks. Psyllium husks' benefits are well documented and people with problems such as irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulosis, constipation, hemorrhoids and other bowel problems can benefit from this fiber supplement.

I became a believer when I started taking it after reading reviews about it. I noticed a differece right away and feel great. As a surprise benefit, I have also lost weight!

The best one I have found is the one sold by The Vitamin Shoppe store (or online at www. vitaminshoppe. com). Give it a try. You will be pleased!

Neither. Both are scams that don't work.

colon cleanses do nothing. they wont clear up your ibs.

you need to talk to your doctor about this

if colon cleansing worked then doctors would support it. but doctors dont support colon cleanses

- Change your dietary habits:
your colon is upset mostly because you're eating the wrong foods (especially compact / refined foods such as bread, "white" pasta, muffins / brownies / sugar / hydrogenated oil & margarine . . . ), which stimulate overproduction of mucus (= clear white substance that's naturally present and serves as a lubrifier to ensure a smooth transport of stools)

- Cleanse the colon
people are right about scams - there are plentiful of those out there, but it really is possible of cleansing the colon (my preferred method is ingesting a mixture of a glass of water and 1 tsp. of powdered clay - yep, you read that right, clay!).

- Nourish the colon
probiotics do work, but again, you have to watch out for scams (my preferred method for this is to either make your own yoghurt or ingest capsules - I bought those from a brand called Puritan's Pride once, and they worked perfectly fine)

- Hydrate your body & colon
drink lots of water (a couple of glasses are fine, provided the food you eat contains sufficient moisture)

- Introduce more raw foods in your diet (= fiber**), as for cooked food (try to steamcook or stir-fry instead, as a means of preserving the nutrients)

**fibers:
there's 2 types of fiber, namely; soluble & insoluble - the ones that are soluble serve as food for you intestinal flora (= bacteria | they are your allies, not enemies,), the insoluble kind helps cleaning your intestines & keeping the stools supple

And. . . there you go. Yep, that's it :).

High quality probiotics (at least 15 billion cells per dose) are essential for people with IBS. A colon "cleanse" that might help is one called Oxypowder which is recommended by many Naturopaths. Eating tons of cereal fibre will probably do you more harm than good at this point especially if it contains gluten.
Check out the Alkaline diet and work more fresh produce into your diet, along with digestive enzymes taken at each meal. Seriously try to avoid fast and processed foods, sugar and starches. You'll notice a HUGE improvement in a few days.
